I love how simple a scrub can be with just things that you can find in the kitchen. It use to be that I would go to the local store to see what I could use and then I started to notice all the ingredients were things that I had in the kitchen plus some other harsher things that I really didn’t want to put on my face . Homemade scrubs take about 5 minutes to make (sometimes even less) and they’re not littered with harsh chemicals or additives found in many store-bought versions. They also make great gifts (although you may want to make two batches so you can keep one for yourself 🙂
For this recipe, I simply use organic brown sugar with coconut oil. The coconut oil can be replaced by olive oil as well. Both are extremely hydrating to the skin.
Yields 5 onces
1 cup organic brown sugar
1/2 cup coconut oil/olive oil
1. In a bowl or jar, mix together the oil and organic brown sugar. Transfer to a jar for storing or gifting.
2. As you use this scrub, the oil and sugar may separate. Just give it a quick stir before using it and you’re good to go!
